  • Cow Dust Time

    Radio Production
Cow Dust Time was an "Between The Ears" programme for BBC Radio 3 that I worked on with producer Clare Jenkins just before Christmas and was transmitted on 14th January 2012. We were able to interweave the atmospheric sounds of the cows coming back home with conversations and descriptions of this special time of the day as well as poetry & music written for cow dust time. It was an really enjoyable programme to work on.

  • The Story of The King James Bible

    Location Recording, Radio Production
As the whole series was recorded on location, no studio content at all, not even the presenters links, I was the sound recordist as well. After the rough edit, I worked my magic to mould it all together with some readings, music and the soundscapes I also had recorded on location.

The brief was to come up with an animation that demonstrated the benefits of brain storming and sharing ideas. However as Astra Zeneca is an international comapny and this was for an international staff development conference they didn't want any dialogue in English or any other language.

Hilary brought me in much earlier in the production process and sent me copies of the FBI files to look at. I went through them and identified ones that leapt off the page that would work on radio. I then developed a style so that we could use these texts on the radio.

  • The Sub 2-Hour Marathon: Sport’s Holy Grail on BBC Radio 4

    Location Recording, Radio Production
There are two special moments for me in the programme. The first is when the presenter, Chris has a go at running on a treadmill at the sub 2 hour pace, and manages about 10 seconds, whilst commentating on his own achievement. The second is a sequence towards the end of the programme where Chris interviews a marathon trainer whilst running out in Addis Ababa.

  • I Heart Milton Glaser for BBC Radio 4

    Radio Production
I didn't know that they had reworked the icon after 9-11 and Milton didn't earn a penny for it as he thought it would be a short local campaign. Alistair is also an excellent presenter and a real pro. When we were recording the links via ISDN into my studio, he delivered just the right amount of emotion into them and so many were first take.
