This comes in 3 options - HD1, HD2 Accel & HD3 Accel. The major difference between them is the number of dsp cards that come as standard with each one. All 3 options come with an HD core card. HD 2s has one HD Accel card, and HD 3 has 2 HD Accel cards. The more dsp power you have the more real time tdm processing you can do.
The HD Core card, supports up to 32 channels of I/O with a quoted support for up to 96 simultaneous audio tracks.

Price Guide

Features
It makes an ideal solution for portable applications. The Mbox 2 and Mbox 2 Mini use a USB 1 interface to the host computer.
The Mbox 2 Pro uses a firewire interface like the 003 family but is a lot more compact. All the Mbox family are compact and get there power from the host computer.
We use our Mboxes for location recording of programmes straight into Protools as well as being able to edit programmes on the road.
You can even record with any of the Mbox family in the middle of a field with an approved laptop, a suitable hard drive, and a couple of mics!

Drawbacks
The Mbox 2 and Mbox 2 Mini use a USB 1 interface and it must be connected directly to the host computer and even then it can choke if the load is too heavy.
The phantom power is limited especially when the host computer is running on batteries so you may find that mics that require alot of phantom power current may not work properly.
