Music Recordings: Worked across a wide variety of styles including all 15 of Wellspring’s albums with a wide range of styles from Jazz to Classical through Comtemporary; 3rd Day – A Rock Musical with massed choir & band; Album for Soprano soloist Margaret Ferguson; 2 x Children’s choir albums; Music for the largest carol concert in the world with brass band and Commonwealth Games Choir; Solo Flautist album.

History

Mike served his apprenticeship at Marconi Communications Systems Ltd and in 1979 was awarded "Technician Apprentice of the Year".

1977 - 81 Broadcast Audio Engineer at Marconi Communications Systems Ltd.

1981 - 84 Studio Engineer at Piccadilly Radio, Manchester undertaking general maintenance and installation duties.

1984 - 88 Outside Broadcast Engineer at Piccadilly Radio handling a wide range of OBs.
Mike built and ran Piccadilly Radio's 16 track OB truck which used the ex "Apple Studio's" Studer A80 16 track machine!
He was Production Engineer for Piccadilly's music drama production ‘Mr. Halle's Band’ which won a 'Sony Award' for ‘best classical music programme’.

1988 - 90 Senior Engineer at Piccadilly Radio during which he supervised the construction of ‘Key 103’ and ‘Piccadilly 1152’ from Piccadilly Radio.
He continued with handling Piccadilly's OB output as well as live studio sessions, several of which were released by the artist’s record companies including ‘The Alarm’ and ‘Fairground Attraction’.

1990 - present. Partner, with his wife Sally, in Studio File as a freelance broadcast audio supervisor working on OBs for a range of clients including ITV Sport, Granada TV, BSB and Chrysalis TV Mobiles.
Installation work also feature in Studio File's order book with BBC Manchester featuring high in the list, designing and installing Digital Audio Workshops.
Satellite Conferencing is another area which Mike works in as a Technical Co-ordinator for amongst others ‘Visionlink Satellite Services’ providing facilities and staff for high profile satellite conferences with multiple international linkups. Clients included:- SmithKline Beecham, Shell, AT & T and National Grid from countries as far a field as Czech Republic & Kenya.

1991 - 2001 Mike was a director of Omnibuss Mobile Ltd, which provided sound OB facilities for TV and Radio with clients that included Granada TV, Border TV, BBC Radio, and a variety of ILRs.
Mike was at the forefront of introduction of live Dolby Surround into UK TV and he mixed the first live Dolby Surround OB in the UK.

1994 - present. Set up One Stop Digital (OSD) Ltd with Jordi Mor
ell & David Fleming-Williams to provide broadcast solutions combining our 75 years experience in broadcasting with new technology.

1999 Mike's work included editing and mixing a 12 part series ‘Anno Domini’ for BBC Radio 2, and a series of 75 ‘One Song One Love’ for BBC Radio 1.
Mixed over 12 hours of continuous broadcasting for Radio City for their ‘Party on the Pier Festival’. Millennium Dome - edited and mixed one of the presentations in ‘The Faith Zone’.

2000 Mike's work has included a large number of Radio Drama productions:- ‘The Missing Wife’, ‘Listen to Your Parents’, ‘Echoing Waters’, ‘Holiday Home’ & ‘Once in a While’ as well as several documentary series including ‘Where was God’ and John McCarthy's ‘Bible Journeys’.
Quite a few of Mike's projects have involved pioneering work by acquiring audio direct into Pro Tools.

Since 2001 work has included Protools training for a range of independent Radio clients including BRMB, Century Radio, Radio Trent & Kiss FM as well as Steve England Productions, BBC Religion & Ethics, BBC Serious Music, BBC Entertainment & Features and BBC Training & Development.
Radio Dramas included ‘Once in a While’, ‘Brimstone’, ‘Home & Dry’, ‘The History Man’, ‘Brave Swimmers’, ‘Common Pursuit’, ‘King Babuu’, ‘A Raging Calm’, ‘Its your Movie’, ‘Depth of Field’.
Recording on location direct into Protools, edited & mixed a comedy music series with Smug Roberts for ‘Ear 2 Ear’ for BBC Radio 4.
Various album projects have included another 5 for Wellspring and a tenor soloist's MOR album.
Imperial War Museum: edited, mixed & mastered a series of CDs based on 1st hand testimonies for a 2nd World War series of books & CDs.
